Willis E. Ford Jr., 71, of Allison Park, died Monday, June 30, 2014, at UPMC Passavant, McCandless. He was born Jan. 10, 1943, in Johnstown, a son of the late Willis E. Ford Sr. and Olive Allison. He was an industrial engineer for 45 years at Medrad Co. & Bacharack Co. and was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving as a sergeant E5 in the Marine Corps. He was a graduate of Johnstown High School and a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Glenshaw. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being a special grandpap to his grandsons, attending their hockey games and dirt bike races. He served in the Marine Corps for five years, including one year of duty in Vietnam, one year aboard the USS Little Rock Flagship 7th Fleet, and was a nuclear guard for missiles. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the National Defense Medal. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Janet M. Jacko Ford, whom he married April 1, 1967, in Johnstown; two daughters, Laurie G. (Dan) Murphy, of Cranberry Township, and Jennifer L. (Brian) McCalla, of Parma, Ohio; two grandsons, Tyler and Zak Murphy; one brother, Edward (Dorothea) Ford, of Johnstown; and two sisters, Barbara Porter, of Johnstown, and Harriet (John) Popovich, of Johnstown. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday at KYPER FUNERAL HOME, 2702 Mt. Royal Blvd. at Mt. Royal Cemetery, Glenshaw. Funeral prayer at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2014, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 2510 Middle Road, Glenshaw, with Father John Marcucci. Interment with military honors at Assumption of St. Mary Cemetery, Hampton Township. Memorials may be made to St. Mary of the Assumption St. Vincent DePaul Food Bank.
