William R. Kaelin 76, passed away on January 13, 2022.   He was born and resided in Pittsburgh, PA and in later years, split his time between Pittsburgh and Melbourne, FL.

Bill was born in the Northside of Pittsburgh in 1945 to the late Albert S. and Gertrude Simpson Kaelin, the youngest of four brothers.   He is preceded in death by his mother, father, and three brothers:  Albert, Charles and Tom and his sister-in-law, Carol Kaelin.

Bill is survived by his sisters-in-law; Sue (Kaelin) Reed and Janice Kaelin and his nephews and nieces, Chris Kaelin, Alison Kaelin, Chuck Kaelin, Michael Kaelin, Amy (Kaelin) Miller, Rose Greenert and Emmett Reed, great nieces and nephews, and many life-long friends.

Bill was a leader in the early gay rights and HIV/AIDs communities.  He was a founding member of the Pittsburgh Tavern Guild, Pitt Men's Study, Lambda Foundation, Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force and many other organizations.  He was a member of the Regatta committee and the boating community for many years.

Over his lifetime, he was the owner of the Arena Health Club, New York, New York, DB's, WK Motors, and various properties.

In addition to being a passionate supporter of the gay community, Bill was a loving son and caretaker for his mother, an avid outdoorsman and generous friend.  He had a wicked sense of humor.  He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
