Shirley A. (Planz) Brace, 96 of Glenshaw, PA, passed away on December 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 5, 1929, in Pittsburgh, daughter of the late Charles Planz and Catherine (Wittig) Planz. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her loving, devoted husband of 66 years, Frank; and her brothers, Jimmy and Ray Planz; and her grandson, Jeremy Brace.
Shirley began her career as a secretary at North Catholic High School where she met her future husband, Frank. She continued to use her strong organization skills as a secretary and treasurer at Brace Engineering for over 3 decades.
Shirley and Frank were married on July 4, 1953. Together they created many special memories through their worldly travels over several continents, time spent with friends and family, and enjoyable moments on the golf course. Shirley and Frank were avid golfers, and spent much time playing the game that they loved and socializing with their friends at Highland Country Club. As snowbirds they traveled to her "Happy Place" and lived for a few months of the year in their oceanfront condo in Cocoa Beach.
Shirley possessed a green thumb and spent countless hours maintaining her beautiful gardens. Her strong Catholic faith was evident throughout her life as she served in various ministries, including St. Bonaventure Christian Mother's Guild. Above all, Shirley was a loving, caring wife and mother who enjoyed any chance to spend time with her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her brother Tom (Barbara) Planz; her children Robert (Barbara) Brace, David (Julianne) Brace, Leslie (William) Nocleg, and Ken (Louann) Brace; her grandchildren Brianna (Kevin), R.J. (Moriah), Isaac, Jenna (Marc), Jeff (Leah), Jaime (Zach), Bryan (Jackie), Randy, David, Timmy, Steven, Michael (Nicole), and Nikki; her great-grandchildren Chloe, Gage, Gannon, Gavyn, Gwyn, Annelise, Quinn, Theo, Parker, Warren, Sophia, Vinny, Ayla, Nora, Jaxon, Ava, Aly, Wyatt, Olivia, and Owen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the Eloise B. Kyper Funeral Home, Inc. 2702 Mt. Royal Blvd. Glenshaw, PA, on Monday, December 15, 2025, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Bonaventure Church, Glenshaw, PA, on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be held in Most Holy Name of Jesus Cemetery, Pittsburgh, PA.
