IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ronald James
Bishop
February 28, 1952 – August 14, 2024
Ronald J. Bishop (72) sadly passed away on August 14th, 2024 at AHN Hospital in Wexford, fighting a recent bout of cancer. Beloved husband of Frances (Benko) Bishop, and son of the late Andrew and Elizabeth (Clarke) Bishop. He was also preceded in death by his brother David (Kathye surviving) Bishop and his sister Cheryl Calhoun. Surviving are nieces Angela(Rob)Hawkins, their children Cecilia and Jason, and Heidi Benge. Also surviving beloved Aunt Charlene Craig and cousins Kimberly Craig, Vernon Craig, and the late Colin Craig. Cousins Heather, Christopher, and Aaron also survive.
Always a proud Marine, Ron had served in the United States Marine Corps and fought in Vietnam during the Easter Offensive. He was one of the original members of Vietnam Veterans Inc.(VVI), American Legion, Post 474, and the West View VFW.
Prior to his service, Ron was a graduate from Avonworth High School, where he played on the Antelopes football team. On the weekends, he also worked at the Avalon Eat N'Park. After his service, he was employed at Duquesne Light Company for years.
Ron was a kind hearted man who loved his God.
His cats brought him love and smiles as did music from the 60s and 70s. Through good and bad scores, he remained a fan of the STEELERS and the PIRATES. He had an eye for cars and always keep his shiny and waxed...
Ron possessed a quick wit and could find humor in anything. Special friends Joe, Dave, Don, and Dave made Ron's final days lighthearted and enjoyable.
Ron will be missed greatly along with his smile.
Blessing and Military Service only will be held at KYPER Funeral Chapel on August 22nd, 2024 at 1:00pm. No viewing or visitation.
In lieu of flowers, suggested donations can be made to the Vietnam Veterans Inc.(VVI) PO BOX 97765, Pittsburgh PA 15227, the St.Jude's Children's Research Hospital, or the Shriners Hospital for Children.
