Robert C. Macy, of Chambersburg,Pennsylvania,died Thursday, March 27,2014 at his son's home in Glenwood, Minnesota. Robert "Bob" Curtis Macy, the older of two children,was born to John and Ruth (Klahne) Macy on March 18,1930 in Passaic, New Jersey. He grew up in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey, and graduated from Hasbrouck Heights High School in 1948. He attended Hope College in Holland, Michigan for one year and then transferred to Houghton College in Houghton,New York, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in history in 1952. Bob's professional career began as an auditor at Gerard Trust Bank in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He had a similar position at Connecticut Bank & Trust in Hartford Connecticut. After moving to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania , he headed up the property management department at Carnegie Mellon University. Finally, he moved to the Boston, Massachusetts area,where he set up and administered the property management system at Harvard University until his retirement. While in high school , Bob spent a summer at Camp of the Woods in Speculator, New York as a counselor. It was there that he heard the message from the Bible about God's salvation and trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. That became a defining time in his life, as his faith in Christ formed the foundation of lifelong biblical learning and sharing its teachings with others. Bob was united in marriage to Priscilla Gilde on June 12, 1954, in her parents' home in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey. Bob and Priscilla where blessed with four children, Daniel, Elizabeth, Stephen and John. In less than three months, Bob and Priscilla would have celebrated 60 years of marriage. Bob was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was the epitome of a gentleman. He loved meeting new people and was passionate about encouraging their spiritual growth. Bob and Priscilla enjoyed traveling, including internationally. In their post-retirement years they made numerous trips for extended periods of time (some up to a year) to the southern part of the Republic of Ireland, where they made many enduring friendships. Bob is survived by his wife, Priscilla Macy of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania ; children, Daniel (Ruth) Macy of Glenwood, Minnesota, Elizabeth (Rick) Costa of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Stephen (Jenevra) Macy of Kingston , New York and John (Amy) Macy of Harare, Zimbabwe; grandchildren, John (Abigail) Macy, Christine Macy, Julia Costa, Simone Costa, Emily Costa, Patrick Costa , Arianna Macy and Abigail Macy; brother J. Thomas (Alice) Macy of Guilford, Connecticut and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruth Macy.
