Rita M. Burkhart, 76, of Shaler Township, died Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at UPMC St. Margaret. She was born Nov. 26, 1938, in Etna, to Francis and Lillian Kaiser. She was a homemaker and also worked at Mellon Bank. She was a member of the St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Glenshaw. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jacob "Jack" Burkhart; children, Bonnie A. Burkhart, of Ross Township, Robert A. Burkhart, of Shaler Township, Jim (Amy) Burkhart, of Shaler Township, and Laurie (Richard) Mushinsky, of Hampton Township; and five grandchildren, Jake, Brett, Paige, Josh and Ava. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Eileen Stevens. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at KYPER FUNERAL HOME, 2702 Mt. Royal Blvd., at Mt. Royal Cemetery, Glenshaw, where a Parish Wake Service will take place at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral prayers at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 2510 Middle Road, Glenshaw. Entombment at Assumption of St. Mary Cemetery Mausoleum, Glenshaw.
