Obituary

Priscilla Macy
August 3, 1932 – November 3, 2024\

Priscilla Macy passed away on November 3, 2024, in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. She was born on August 3, 1932, to Peter and Helen Gilde in Paterson, New Jersey. Priscilla attended grade school and high school in Garfield, New Jersey. She studied at Houghton College in New York, where she fell in love with fellow student Robert "Bob" Curtis Macy. In June 1954, shortly after graduating from Houghton with a degree in English, she and Bob Macy married. Together, they raised four children: Dan (Ruth) Macy, Beth (Rick) Costa, Stephen Macy (Jenevra Georgini), and John (Amy) Macy.

Priscilla and Bob shared a deep Biblical faith that guided every aspect of their lives and was a cornerstone of their community life as well. They were very active in their local non-denominational Christian church and dedicated many years to missionary work throughout the northeastern United States, Canada, and later during retirement in Ireland.

Priscilla and Bob traveled extensively throughout the US and around the world, including living in Ireland several times for six months to a year at a time. The beautiful landscapes of England, Ireland, and New England were especially captivating to Priscilla.

Known for her incredible hospitality, Priscilla loved to entertain guests and often invited friends to stay for weeks at a time. She cherished her family and was always eager to spend time with them, never forgetting to celebrate a birthday or an anniversary in person or with a card, a note, and a gift. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her delight, and she was always ready to babysit at a moment's notice, whether for a day or for a week. She loved to play hymns on the piano, and enjoyed knitting and sewing.

In addition to her four children, Priscilla is survived by her eight grandchildren – John Curtis (Abigail) Macy, Christine (Caleb) Pheneger, Julia Costa (Joe Edelsack), Simone Costa (Matt Biegler), Emily Costa, Patrick Costa, Arianna Macy and Abigail Macy – and six great-grandchildren – Charlotte Macy, Caroline Macy, Catherine Macy, Harrison Macy, Nora Cobie and Rosalía Costa-Edelsack.

Priscilla was preceded in death by her husband Bob Macy, her parents Peter and Helen Gilde, and her sister Gloria Konefal.
