Maureen Brett Horstman, age 82, of Butler, PA, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 5, 2017 at the VNA Hospice in Butler, PA. She was born on November 24, 1935 in Etna to the late Edward (father), and Catherine Brett (mother).
In life, she worked as a teacher and drug and alcohol counselor, ending her career as a director at Family Services of Western PA in Pittsburgh. In retirement, she loved spending time with her family, reading and watching Steelers games.
Maureen is survived by her son, James (Dot) Horstman of Lake Worth, FL, Diane (Robert) McMahon of Fairhope, PA, Michele (Kevin) Canney of Jupiter, FL, and Connie (Shaun) Donovan of Butler, PA. She is also survived by her dear friend Kelly Barone, of Pittsburgh, PA.
Maureen has six grandchildren Emily Canney, Joshua Donovan, Jamie Horstman, Michael Canney, Shannon Donovan, and Brooke Horstman.
She was preceded in death by her mother Catherine Keenan Brett and father Edward Brett and her beloved sister Eileen Brett Henry and her husband James Henry.
Friends will be received on Friday, October 6, 2017 from 4:30PM until 8PM at the Eloise B. Kyper Funeral Home, Inc. 2702 Mt Royal Blvd, in Glenshaw, PA.
A Funeral Mass will be held at All Saints Church in Etna on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 10:00AM. Interment will follow at Mt. Royal Cemetery.
The family thanks the thoughtful and kind-hearted nurses of the VNA hospice in Butler, PA. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the hospice.
