Mary Ann (Baronti) Sirney, 86, of Moon Township, PA, passed away peacefully at St. John's Specialty Care Center in Mars, PA, on Thursday, November 22, 2018. She was born September 2, 1932, in Pittsburgh, PA, a daughter of the late Leo and Helen (Wojkowski) Baronti.
In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, of 51 years, Daniel H. Sirney; her mother and father-in-law, Rev. John and Anna Sirney; her sister, Dolores Alexander and her husband, Frank; and four grandchildren, Jason, Theresa, Michelle, and Shaun Sirney.
Mary Ann graduated from McKees Rocks High School in 1950. Those who knew Mary Ann will remember her most for her love of music and her beautiful soprano singing voice. After high school, she took voice and guitar lessons at Duquesne University. She performed for the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, the Pittsburgh Savoyards, and as a soloist at various churches, clubs and venues. Along with her husband Daniel, Mary Ann sang in the choir as a member of the Presbyterian Church of Coraopolis, PA (formerly Mt. Calvary Presbyterian Church). In Sewickley, PA, Mary Ann was a member and regular performer at the Sewickley Music Club, and later in her life, at the Masonic Village at Sewickley.
Regarding her other accomplishments, Mary Ann worked at Dravo Corporation (Neville Island, PA), as a teacher's aide at the Allegheny Intermediate Unit (Moon Township, PA), and volunteered for the Moon Township Library. For the Girl Scouts, she led a Cadette troop and served as the Chartiers District Chairman and as a First Class Chairman. As a member of the Sharon Community Presbyterian Church in Moon Township, PA, she organized service greeters, volunteered as the church librarian, and taught Sunday school kindergarten and children's choir. Mary Ann loved history and loved to travel, both abroad and locally. She often took her children on fun backroad adventures to explore the Allegheny County belt system.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Gregory Sirney and his wife, Diana, of Melbourne, FL, John Sirney and his wife, Janet, of Carrollton, TX, Joy Cavaliero and her husband, Eric, of Cranberry Township, PA, and Carol Sirney and her husband, Paul Gustafson, of Richmond, CA; her grandchildren, Jerry Sirney and his wife, April, Daniel R. Sirney, Jeanette Sirney, and Vita Cavaliero; her great grandchildren, Shawna Lornitis, Dillon Sirney and Cosmo, Theresa, and Jonathan Flachmeier; her brother, Ronald Baronti and his wife, Donna, of Annapolis, MD; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends will be received at Sharon Community Presbyterian Church (522 Carnot Rd, Moon Township, PA 15108) for a Memorial Service to celebrate Mary Ann's life on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests that memory donations can be made to any of the following: Multiple Sclerosis Foundation ( https://msfocus.org/Donate.aspx) , Moon Township Public library ( http://www.moonlibrary.org) or Sharon Community Presbyterian Church.
