Mary Elizabeth Kushner, 83, of Allison Park, PA, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2025.
She was born in Highland Park, PA on March 15, 1941. Mary went to Peabody High School and graduated in 1959 to become a library clerk for the Carnegie Libraries of Pittsburgh. She served many roles during her time with the Carnegie Libraries, before finally settling in the East Liberty Branch for the majority of her career. Mary married Stanley Kushner on January 15, 1966. She and Stanley both loved the theater and would often travel to see various shows. Together they shared many activities and hobbies, including dance roller skating, fishing, camping, and ballroom dancing. She was a devoted member of her church where she also taught Sunday School classes for 9 years. Mary was a loving mother and grandmother to two daughters and two grandsons.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Herbert Wade Miller and Dorothy Olive Miller, and her first husband, James Devitt Jr.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Stanley Kushner of Allison Park, PA, along with her two daughters, Melinda Kushner of Shaler Township, PA, and Meredith Hazard (Timothy Sr.) of North Versailles Township, PA, and two grandsons, Timothy Jr. and Thomas Hazard also of North Versailles Township, PA.
Friends and relatives of Mary Elizabeth Kushner are invited to a blessing service at the chapel of Eloise B. Kyper Funeral Home, Mount Royal Boulevard, Glenshaw, PA on January 10th at 1pm. She will be laid to rest in Mount Royal Cemetery immediately following the service.
A memorial service for family and friends to celebrate the life of Mary will be held at a later date, on Saturday, March 8th at 11am, held at Elfinwild Presbyterian Church, located 3200 Mt Royal Blvd, Glenshaw, PA 15116. Please meet directly at Church for the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Mary's memory to either Elfinwild Presbyterian Church, 3200 Mount Royal Boulevard, Glenshaw, PA, 15116 or Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh, 6926 Hamilton Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA, 15208.
