Obituary

Mary Kalemon Goss passed away peacefully at home into eternal life on Sept. 18th, 2024 to be forever with the Lord.

Mary was born Dec. 4, 1926 in Koppel, Pa. to Mary and Andrew Kalemon who were immigrants from the Ukraine. She had many interesting stories to tell about how her parents came to this country, lived through the Great Depression and then moved to a 100 acre farm in Darlington, PA. Life on the farm was not easy. Without running water they had to bring buckets of water from the spring house for cooking and washing. In the winter they would heat a brick in the coal stove to warm their beds at night. Her father didn't think education was necessary for girls, but she wanted to go to high school so she had to walk two miles each way to the bus stop in Homewood. Later, her father was proud when because of her education she got a job as a telephone operator with Bell Telephone in Beaver Falls. The Bell Telephone Company even put in a telephone line to the farmhouse because she was an employee!

Mary met and married our father, Warren G.Goss in 1950 and together they built their own home on the property they purchased on Mt. Nebo in Ohio Township. This was the home they lived in for the rest of their lives. After building their own house they began a home building business together in the North Hills area of Pittsburgh.

Mary was preceded in death by her father and mother, Andrew and Mary Lysik Kalemon, and her brother, Paul Kalemon.

She is survived by her very loving and adoring husband of 74 years, Warren G. Goss; their two daughters, Rhonda Goss and Paula Zanotti; her two grandchildren, Andrew Zanotti, and Sarah (Caleb) Costanzo; and cherished great grandson, Jaxon Zanotti.

She will be greatly missed by us all, leaving an enduring legacy of selfless sacrificial love for others and a love for God. Her favorite past time was reading and discussing scripture.

She came to a personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ upon reading Roman's 10:9 in the Bible which says, "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
