IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mark G.
Forsythe
October 27, 1951 – February 25, 2020
Mark G. Forsythe age 68 of Richland Township, passed away at home on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 following a year-and-a-half battle with ALS. Born October 27, 1951 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late William and Norma (Weger) Forsythe.
Mark was a school bus driver for North Allegheny School District over the past 40 years and truly loved his job. He considered the kids he drove as "his kids"; he called them "space cadets" and they called him "Rocket Man". Even after he was diagnosed with ALS it was the hope of being able to go back to work that kept him going.
Mark loved the family he was married into and all of his step kids, grandkids and great grans. Each one was special to him. He had a keen sense of humor and an infectious belly laugh that you couldn't help laughing, too. He was a gentle person, tortured by his own demons and like all of us, did the best he could with the life he was dealt. Mark loved nature and often felt more at home with animals than people, and there wasn't a cat on this planet that he wouldn't drop everything to save. And not only an animal and cat lover but a lover of flowers, trees, birds and bees. He was a husband, a stepfather, a school bus driver, a history buff, an RC "pilot", a mechanic, a carpenter, an apiarist, a fish enthusiast and a child of God.
Mark is survived by his loving wife Nancy (Huch Haithcoat) Forsythe of 32 years, and his stepdaughter, Pamela (Haithcoat) Wagner and her daughter Katie Wagner and partner Cory Singleton of Virginia and their children, Nolan, Charlee and Wyatt; his stepson Timothy Haithcoat and wife Kellie of Missouri and their children: daughter Kara and her husband Matt Spitz of Ohio and their children, Elsie and Jackson; daughter Lindlie and her husband Matt Blackwood of Colorado and their children, Timothy and Raiden; son Jimmy Haithcoat and his wife Erin of Missouri; daughter Louisa and her husband Patrick Stark of California; daughters Robin and Kacie and sons William and Harrison of Missouri; and his stepdaughter Kimberly (Haithcoat) and her husband Brian Barbieri of South Dakota and their daughter Amber.
A Memorial Service to commemorate his life will be held on Saturday, March 14 at 11 a.m. at Allison Park Church, 2326 Duncan Avenue, Allison Park, PA 15101.
Memorial gifts may be made to The ALS Association of Southwestern PA, 416 Lincoln Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15209, or at their website, cure4ALS.org
