IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marie
Cox
March 26, 1931 – January 6, 2023
Marie L. Cox, 91, of Pittsburgh, PA passed away peacefully on Friday, January 6, 2023. She was surrounded by family and friends, she knew that she was loved, and without a doubt, she knew where she was going.
She was the beloved wife of 57 years to the late John(Jack) Cox, loving mother of George(Cindy)Cox and Cathy Cox, devoted sister of Helen Betz (and the late Werner Betz), cherished grandmother of Cameron Cox, Cooper Cox, and Christopher Valeska, and adored aunt of Debbie(Richard)Bader, Betty(Edward)Wesolek, the late Richard (Sue) Bachman, Joan (James) Neugebauer, Jean(Arthur)Rattigan, David(Patricia)Lang, Charles Lang, Maria(Michael) Brockaway, and Joseph Cox.
Marie was born on March 26,1931 to Ella and George Schweizer. After graduating from Allegheny General Hospital's School of Nursing, she began a long and dedicated career there as a Registered Nurse. Her many "hats" included working in the Emergency Room, as a Lead Nurse on a floor, and many years working in Employee Health, caring for those who worked on the front lines as she once did, and she capped it off volunteering to help with family support in the ER after she "retired." Through those years, she was a member of AGH's Nurses' Alumnae Association Board of Directors. As a devoted member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in the North Side, Marie often worked in various roles, including Children's Ministry, and she loved her church family. She also was an avid doll collector, card player, gardener, bowler, and bird watcher, and many of her dear life long friends were met while enjoying these interests. Her loves also included connecting with her family in Germany, traveling to visit friends across the country, enjoying being the wife of a Barbershop singer, and camping in the great outdoors. She leaves a legacy of a loving, hard working, caring woman who loved her family, loved to laugh, and most of all loved her Lord. Marie will be missed by her family and many friends who were blessed to know her.
Family and friends will be received at Eloise B. Kyper Funeral Home, 2702 Mt. Royal, in Glenshaw, PA on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 from 2 - 8 p.m.. There will also be visitation at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, followed by a Funeral Service at 11 a.m. in the Eloise B. Kyper Funeral Home chapel.
We are grateful to the staff at Concordia Lutheran Home of Franklin Park for the loving care that Marie received while staying there.
