Loretta E. Walter, 95, of Hampton Township, a lifelong resident of Middle Road, Glenshaw, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015, at Sunrise Assisted Living in McCandless. She was born Sept. 24, 1919, in Glenshaw, a daughter of the late John Giel and Mary Reiner. A homemaker, she was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Glenshaw, and the church's Christian Mothers. She was a charter member of Wildwood Golf Club, a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Bridge Club and the 55 Specials. Loretta was an avid golfer who enjoyed playing bridge and many travels with her husband, Jerry. Survivors include her son, Gerard G. (Dianne) Walter, of Rochester, N.Y.; two daughters, Mary Jean Kirby, of Hampton Township, and Lois W. (George P.) Lutz, of Hampton Township; a brother, Leonard (Camilla) Giel, of Indiana Township; a sister, Sister Lorraine Giel, CDP, of Sister of Divine Providence, McCandless; eight grandchildren, Gerard, Thomas and Garret Walter, Amy Pohl, Eric Kirby, Alissa Leffler, Aileen Robertson and Patrick Lutz; and great-grandchildren, Kristina, Jay, Alexandra and Morgan Walter, Meghan and Anna Pohl, John and Connor Kirby, Will and Molly Robertson and Luke Leffler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Gerard S. Walter, who died Feb. 13, 2007; son-in-law, John J. "Duke" Kirby, who died March 31, 2006; two sisters, Marie Hunkele and Catherine Hunkele; and five brothers, Ralph, John, Raymond, Edward and Norman Giel. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m., with a parish wake service at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at KYPER FUNERAL HOME, 2702 Mt. Royal Blvd. at Mt. Royal Cemetery, Glenshaw. Funeral prayer at 11:15 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at noon at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 2510 Middle Road, Glenshaw, with Father John Marcucci.
