IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kathleen
Hoy
July 21, 1955 – March 2, 2026
"Kathleen "Kathy" (Ung) Hoy, age 70, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2, 2026, with her family by her side. She was born on July 21, 1955, the beloved daughter of the late William and Daisy (Der) Ung.
Kathy was peacefully ushered into the arms of God and heaven while in the presence of her loving husband Edmund and her son Michael. In the hours before her passing, she was able to hear heartfelt goodbyes from her son Stephen, her daughter Allison, and her sister Susan — a final moment surrounded by the love of those closest to her.
Kathy was the loving and devoted wife of Edmund Hoy, with whom she shared 48½ years of marriage filled with love and companionship. She was a proud and loving mother to Michael Hoy, Stephen Hoy, and Allison (Hoy) McCartney, who were the greatest joys of her life.
In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by her brother David Ung and sister Susan Yamakoshi, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will cherish her memory.
Her parents were the owners of Bill Ung's Tea Garden, formerly located in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh, a place fondly remembered by many in the community. She enjoyed a wide variety of foods, something she proudly inherited from her father, and she especially loved traveling to Florida and visiting Walt Disney World. Being close to family and friends was deeply important to her, and she treasured the many happy moments spent together.
She will be lovingly remembered for her warmth, devotion to her family, and the joyful memories she created with those she loved. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In keeping with Kathy's wishes, the family has elected not to hold a formal service. Kathy wished to be remembered for the happy and joyful experiences shared with family and friends, rather than a saddened gathering marking her journey into heaven.
Arrangements are under the direction of Eloise B. Kyper Funeral Home, Inc., 2702 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw, PA."
