Obituary

Karen May Barnard, 71, of Elyria, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born May 12, 1951 in Elyria, the daughter of the late Pervis Rogers and Phyllis (Smith) Rogers.

In addition to her parents, Karen's sister, Diane Rogers; brother, Eugene Rogers; Auntie Maxine, and Uncle Bob, all preceded Karen in death. Her Auntie Maxine and Uncle Bob were instrumental in raising Karen and her siblings.

Karen is survived by her three beloved sons, Robert (Sonya) Barnard, Martin 'Marty' (Jewel) Barnard, and Eric (Tennille) Barnard; brother, Jim Rogers; sister, Pam (Alan) Forbus and five grandchildren, Caleigh, Zach, Matthew, Chloe, and Stephanie.

Karen had three loving sons who were the center of her whole life, to which she referred to Rob as her right arm, Marty as her left arm, and Eric as the center of her heart. She invested everything she had into raising her boys. She worked up to three jobs to support her children. She diligently assisted with their homework and always made time to get them to their baseball games and practice.  As she will be remembered for her warm-hearted nature and devotion to her family, church was the center of everything. Karen attended Calvary Baptist Church in Elyria for almost her entire life. Her fond memories will be cherished forever.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Calvary Baptist Church, 114 Hope Court, Elyria, OH 44035. If you wish to attend the memorial service, please meet us directly at the church.
