John "Jack" Neofes, 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 in
Waynesburg, PA. He was born on October 21, 1933 in Pittsburgh, PA to the
late Carolyn and George Neofes. He leaves behind an older brother, William
G. Neofes, Sr. whom he respected and looked up to all of his life along with
his niece Melissa Neofes Mischak, and her husband Bob and nephew Bill
Neofes, and, his wife Jude, and two great nephews, Daniel and Jackson. John
was raised in the North Side of Pittsburgh and was a graduate of Allegheny
High School. He worked a variety of jobs including security at WPXI for a
number of years which he enjoyed very much. John joined the Air Force during
the mid-fifties serving in the Military Police at the Pensacola Naval Air
Station. Being a street-savvy young man, he learned how to box at an early
age. While serving in the Air Force he continued this passion by joining the
boxing team and fought in exhibition matches against other military
branches. John loved the city of Pittsburgh. He was true to his Greek roots
as he enjoyed coffee, and frequenting local and Greek diners. He will be
laid to rest in a private ceremony at the Mt. Royal Cemetery in Glenshaw, PA
near his parents. May his memory be eternal.
