Joan M. (Gatesman) Peluso, 88, of Shaler Township, died Friday, May 2, 2014, in Grace Manor, McCandless. She was born Dec. 3, 1925, in Lucinda, Pa., a daughter of Augustus and Clara Schmader Gatesman. Joan was a homemaker and was a member of St. Bonaventure Church, Glenshaw. She was also a member of the Holy Spirit Christian Mothers. Joan is survived by her daughters, Joan (Butch) Spagnolo, of Shaler Township, and Marilyn (Christian) Jorgensen, of Hampton Township; a son, Chip (Cynthia) Peluso, of Zelienople; daughter-in-law, Christine Peluso, of Shaler Township; brothers, Jack Gatesman, of Lucinda, and Fred Gatesman, of Florida; sisters, Norma Mealy, of Leeper, and Kathy Schmader, of Sigal; seven grandchildren, Jamie Peluso, Cara (Scott) Kurtz, Shannon (Brad) Waldschmidt, Daniel "DJ" Peluso (Amanda), Chelsea Peluso, Derek Peluso and Ryan Peluso; and four great-grandchildren, Olivia, Caroline and Jacob Kurtz and Ellie Waldschmidt. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, Albert Joseph Peluso (Sept. 9, 2006); a son, Daniel Peluso (May 18, 1992); and siblings, Dana, Ken, Mary Lou, Betty, Bill and Mark. Visitation will be held from 12 noon to 4 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at KYPER FUNERAL HOME, 2702 Mt. Royal Boulevard at Mt. Royal Cemetery, Glenshaw. Funeral prayer will take place at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 6, 2014, in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., in St. Bonaventure Church, 2001 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw, with Father John Sweeney officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Royal Cemetery, Shaler Township. Memorials may be made to St. Bonaventure Church, 2001 Mt.
