Dolores A. Vlcek, age 93 of Ross Twp., passed away on April 19, 2015. Her parents Rudolf Vacek and Antoinette ( Kolough) were immigrants from Czechoslovakia. She was one of 9 children, 4 brothers and 5 sisters.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles (Chuck) Vlcek, who she married in 1943; her son, Charles Vlcek Jr.; and eight siblings, Rudolf Vacek, Joseph Vacek, John Vacek, Andy Vacek, Evelyn Gaysek, Dorothy Tratten, Lorraine Pitschke and Madeline Capretta.
She grew up on the Northside of Pittsburgh and has memories of her 2 mile walk to school each day and how the air pollution was so bad she had the wipe the soot off her face before going through the school doors. Dolores married Charles in 1943 and had 4 children. Her fondest memories, other than her family were working for over 10 years at Pittsburgh Plate Glass, now known as PPG. She loved her job as a type setter in the printing department.
Dolores quit her job in 1954, once her family moved into their new home in Mount Troy (Ross Township) to raise her children as a full time homemaker. She lived in that same home for almost 54 years. Her husband, Charles passed away suddenly at 61 years old. Dolores raised her two youngest, high school girls on her own.
She lived her remaining years in the Elmcroft assisted living facility.
Dolores is survived by her children, Jamie Renne (Thomas), Trina Golub (Terrance), and Christine Aron (Stephen); five grandchildren, Paul Vlcek, Robert Vlcek, Sarah Renne, Danielle Renne, and Nicole Stephan (Adam); a great grandchild, Cooper Stephan; a daughter-in-law, Rosemary Vlcek; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the Eloise B. Kyper Funeral Home, Inc. 2702 Mt. Royal Blvd. Glenshaw, PA. on Friday, April 24, 2015 from 4-8PM. A Blessing Service will be held in the funeral home chapel, on Saturday April 25 at 12:00PM.
Interment will be held in Mt. Royal Memorial Park, Glenshaw, PA.
