Dolores retired from St. Clair Hospital where she was a Supervisor of Housekeeping. She had also previously worked in same capacity at the Baptist Homes. She enjoyed living at the Baptist Manor Apartments for over fifteen years, where she was the unofficial "counselor". Dolores ended her final days in their nursing care after suffering complications from a fall. Quite socially active, she helped raise money for the Baptist Homes Society, organized parties and wrote plays for the other residents to perform. Her friendly personality drew many admirers; she always had a smile ready for those she met. Known for her wonderful sense of humor, she took life in stride. Her calendar was always full.
Dolores loved nature from childhood and continued to hike and enjoy the outdoors well into her 70's. She remained quite independent. She was a well-read and cultured woman, with not only an appreciation for art, but an artist herself. She also wrote memorable poems and letters.
As a stay-at-home mother, Dolores raised her family with old fashion practicality, baking her own bread and canning vegetables from a half acre garden she cultivated on her grandmother's small farm and her own backyard.
Although a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Castle Shannon, Dolores took joy in visiting other churches and becoming involved in their activities of service to the community. Bible study and prayer held important places in her life. Dolores was a woman of strong faith and now rests the arms of our Lord. She will be missed by many.
