Charles John Bonitz, 89, of Pittsburgh, passed away at the Wexford House in Wexford, PA., on Friday, March 11, 2016. Charles was born on August 18, 1926, son of the late Charles Paul Bonitz and Mathilda (Smith) Bonitz.

In addition to his parents Charles was preceded in death by his brother Herbert and his sister Mary.

Throughout his life Charles worked as a truck driver for Allegheny County. He was known as a gentle soul to those who knew him. Charles was a former member of the VFW Post #9197 and the Etna Elks Lodge. He was an avid sportsman, notably enjoying hunting and fishing.

Left to cherish his memory, Charles will be remembered by his wife of 65 years, Shirley Bonitz; his son, Raymond Bonitz and wife Ethel; and his granddaughter, Mallorie Lamia and her husband Joseph.

A visitation will be held at the Eloise B. Kyper Funeral Home, Inc., 2702 Mt. Royal Blvd. Glenshaw, PA. on Wednesday, March 16, at 12:00PM. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 1:00PM.

Interment will be held in St. Augustine Cemetery, located in Shaler Twp. .
