Barry A. Steckel, 59, of West Deer Twp., formerly of Hampton, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2020. He was born Sunday, May 21, 1961 in Pittsburgh, a son of Joseph and Jean (Macioce) Steckel.
Barry was preceded in death by his grandparents, Anthony and Rose Macioce.
Barry was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Parish, Glenshaw, PA. He was a proud Graduate of Duquesne University, Class of 1984, where he received a Baseball Scholarship. Barry worked in marketing for several different magazine publications including, Hearse Publications, Comag Marketing Group (CMG), and TV Guide. He was an avid sports fan and held season tickets for Duquesne Men's Basketball and The Pittsburgh Penguins. He loved to tour sport stadiums, travel, and explore along the way.
In addition to his parents, Barry is survived by his wife, Kelly (Keller) Steckel; their daughter, Mia; his brother, Bruce Steckel (Kate), and their son, David; his brother, Brian Steckel (Andrea), and their children, Ashley, Bradley, Brett (Elyse); his sister-in-law, Kim Brennan (Al), and her daughter, Cassidy; and his best friend and companion, Benji, his morkie.
Friends will be received in the Eloise B. Kyper Funeral Home, Inc. 2702 Mt. Royal Blvd. Glenshaw, PA., on Thursday, August 13, from 4 to 8 p.m.
The Funeral Mass will be held Friday, August 14, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary of the Assumption Parish, Glenshaw, PA.
Entombment will follow in Mt. Royal Cemetery, Temple of all Faith's Mausoleum, Glenshaw.
Barry's family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, Dr. Leonard Appleman, Lisa, Diane, all of Treatment Nurses, and to Dr. Robert Petcash for all of their excellent care and kind hearted gestures.
