On Saturday December 13, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with several health issues, Alan passed peacefully from this world with his devoted wife of 45 years and caregiver Audrey by his side.

Alan was born and raised in the Troy Hill section of Pittsburgh, the youngest of 4 siblings. He most recently resided in Baden PA. After retiring from a long career in maintenance at Package Products in Pittsburgh, Alan and Audrey were lucky enough to live his dream of retiring to the south where they lived for several years in Shallotte, NC. He was a veteran of the US Army from the Vietnam Era. He was an avid craftsman who enjoyed wood working and cabinetry. He dearly loved his pets "Molly" and "Trouble". He had an insatiable appetite for Islay's Chipped Ham, fruit smoothies and ice cream.

In addition to his beloved wife Audrey, Alan is survived by his sister Edna "Bunnie" Shema, his devoted stepchildren Sandy (Pete) Kenney, Mark (Jackie) Schneider, and Eric (Mary) Schneider, 12 cherished grandchildren, 17 greatgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Harold J. and Edna M. Smith, his brother Harold Smith, sister Shirley
Cochenour and brother-in-law Bill Cochenour.

Friends and family will be received, Wednesday, December 17, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Eloise B. Kyper Funeral Home, 2702 Mt Royal Blvd, Glenshaw, PA 15116; Where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at 11:00 AM, Pastor Don Woolwebber will be officiating. In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society ( https://donate.cancer.org ) in Alan's name.
